Are you ready for the next Tanya Time Book Club adventure? We're Enroute to Ghana with Tanya and the wonderful book besties for another lit-trip! Come along with us as we dive into the heart of the nation's capital, and immerse ourselves in its vibrant culture, community, food, history and more! Discover iconic landmarks and rich heritage, uncover tales of resilience and history at Elmina Slave Castle and Assin Manso Slave River, scenic forest reserves and embrace the gracious hospitality of the Ghanaian people! We end with taking in stunning golden coastline views and relaxing beach vibes, promising an experience that extends with you as you leave from the Motherland. We're excited as there will be two special author dinner-stay tuned for the big reveal of author names. Additionally, in the spirit of giving back during our visit to Tanya's home country, we'll dedicate an afternoon to visiting a local school where we will engage in reading sessions with the children and donate books.

Important Information

Guests holding passports from outside the ECOWAS region, including American passport holders, need a valid tourist visa for entry into Ghana. There are a few visa categories and application options available to different passport holders i.e embassy visas, e-visas & visa on arrival, to name a few. Enroute54 Visa-on-Arrival Service 

Should you prefer a Visa on Arrival Services we are able to support you with an expedited application. This includes a smooth application process, airport and immigration protocol upon arrival and baggage services.


The VOA fee, totalling $230 encompasses: The application & processing fees, and related charges. Do note that this fee must be settled before approval is granted by the Controller-General of Immigration. To facilitate the VOA process, we kindly request your exact arrival and departure dates. These dates are used for your VOA application and will be used to confirm the validity period of your visa. You will be provided with a pre-arrival visa document which will then be transferred into your passport upon your arrival at the airport, with the assistance of our ground staff. Embassy Visa Information

If you opt to handle your visa independently, kindly reach out to your nearest Ghanaian embassy/consulate. To ensure timely processing with the embassy application option, we advise you begin your application immediately to secure your visa well in advance of your travel dates. You can visit the Ghana Embassy Washington DC website to access information on their service types, processing fees, duration, and procedures.


Do you need a yellow fever vaccination certificate or card for Ghana?  

A Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required on arrival into Ghana for travellers aged 9 months and older. The vaccination requirement is for protection against Yellow Fever, and you could be denied entry without it. Travelers will be required to ensure they have this full vaccination and certificate at least 10 days prior to departure. Kindly contact your local general Practitioner

Arrival, Hotel Transfers, Assisted Check-In & Welcome Dinner

Receive a warm welcome from our team at Kotoka Airport, before heading to your hotel. Prepare for an evening of celebrating your arrival in Ghana with a welcome dinner where you also get to know each other at a beautiful outdoor restaurant with a welcome drumming and interactive cultural performance and an option to experience Accra’s infamous buzzing nightlife afterwards.

Batik Making & Cultural Immersion Experience & TTBC Author Book Salon

Dive into an enriching batik making experience featuring Ghanaian traditional symbols and insights into the meaning of Adinkra symbols with a knowledgeable specialist, explore traditional Ghanaian dancing & local languages, enjoy a traditional food cooking session and end with an intimate lunch hosted by a Ghanaian family. Later in the evening, we will immerse ourselves in the world of literature with a curated book reading from a special Author while enjoying a beautiful dinner.

Accra City History Tour, Drumming Class & TTBC Book Salon

Get ready to explore Accra with a knowledgeable guide, learn about Ghana's Independence at the infamous Black Star Gate, uncover the Fantasy Coffins and hear about Ga culture, participate in an interactive session at WEB Dubois Centre & enjoy shopping from local artisans at the Arts Centre after a fun, interactive drumming class.

Cape Coast Day- Road to Heritage

Today's itinerary begins with a drive to the central region of Ghana, with our first stop at Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River, once a bustling hub and market of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, giving insights into the Last Bath ritual for enslaved individuals. Continuing our journey, we'll also explore the historic Elmina Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its colonial history and pivotal role in the transatlantic slave trade. Upon reaching our hotel, you'll have ample time to unwind and enjoy the beach scenery and also welcomed by a vibrant cultural performance before enjoying a buffet lunch.

Kakum National Park & Return to Accra

Following a relaxing morning, our journey back to Accra includes a stop at Kakum National Park and its renowned Canopy Walkway which can be found within the Assin Attandanso Reserve. Amidst spectacular scenery and diverse wildlife, the park’s best-known feature is undoubtedly its 7 suspension bridges which form a 333-meter-long canopy walkway, suspended up to 27 meters above the forest.

Morning Yoga/Pilates & Give Back Session

We'll enjoy a tranquil morning participating in either Yoga or a Pilates class. In the essence of giving back to Tanya's homeland, we'll devote this afternoon to visiting a local school. There, we'll engage in reading sessions with the children and contribute by donating books.

Last Errands & Departure

Grab any last minute souvenirs or local crafts if your flight time permits, and then prepare for checkout and transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
